History of origin
The Digital Continuing Education Campus is a central platform for technically supported teaching and learning as well as knowledge management in Baden-Württemberg.
It was set up in 2015 by vimotion GmbH in collaboration with the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport as part of the Alliance for Lifelong Learning.
It is currently used by more than 250 companies and public and private educational institutions.
The extensive infrastructure of the Digital Campus for Continuing Education allows both the shared use and exchange of digital learning content.
It also offers opportunities for cross-institutional cooperation and networking.
The Digital Education Campus has a variety of different tools for documenting, structuring and using knowledge in a targeted manner.
In addition, the platform has been and is constantly being expanded with additional tools for learning and knowledge management.
The Digital Training Campus also has a large number of interfaces.
This means that it is not only customizable, but can also cooperate with other systems and supplement them if necessary.
The goals of the DWC
Smaller institutions can no longer meet the requirements of digitalization in terms of financial resources, technology, data protection and legal protection.
Sooner or later, this development will lead to a monopolization of the continuing education landscape.
It also threatens a digital divide.
One aim of the Digital Campus for Continuing Education is to maintain a broadly diversified and locally anchored continuing education landscape.
In order to counteract the digital divide, the Digital Campus for Continuing Education has established a central infrastructure for technically supported teaching and learning scenarios that combines a wide variety of applications under a common interface.
This not only promotes the preservation of smaller educational institutions, but also enables the creation of individual learning environments for larger institutions and organizations.
In addition, the Digital Continuing Education Campus offers the opportunity to exchange and share digital content across institutions.
The advantages of the DWC
The Digital Education Campus combines a wide variety of applications under a common interface and thus offers a comprehensive central infrastructure for technically supported teaching and learning scenarios.
By using this infrastructure, all users move in an integrated teaching and learning environment that gives the impression of a large, uniform application.
This increases usability and at the same time reduces inhibitions.
In addition, it is easy to combine a wide variety of tools in a meaningful way, so that even complex settings can be realized without a special qualification in computer science.
